When my mind draws, my hands don’t think

Kalnciema Kvartāls
Exhibition
2025

Hand as a gesture, sign, symbol and a tool of work.

My first solo exhibition happening in the beautiful Kalnciema Kvartāls. With work created over the span of one year. The work was divided in 3 different experimental series and techniques- including acrylic, ink and screen printing on paper. The whole concept of the exhibition was reflecting the theme of hands as a multidisciplanary tool, connecting the mind, heart and hands.

Process

Ideation

The idea was to explore as many directions of a hand as versatile artistic instrument. Through their use in gestures, signs, symbols, drawings and tools of work.

Use of tools

First drawn with pencil in the sketchbook, later on transferred to an Ipad and made digital. Lastly, closing the circle with fully painted acrylic work on A1 paper sheet.

Sketches

I did more than 100 sketches of different hand movements, finger placement and holding objecs in the span of one year.
